Marci’s photography zooms in on what time leaves behind. Drawn to weathered boats and structures, tidal marsh edges, and the subtle imprints of passing life, she seeks what she describes as the “spirit” of a subject – the character shaped by exposure, use, and endurance.
Working primarily in Sea Pines and the surrounding coast, her images linger on objects and shorelines marked by years of presence. A bateau resting in still water, a vessel partially reclaimed by brush, a starfish pulling itself across wet sand, a hatchling turtle entering the tide – each photograph observes a landscape in motion, shaped by both memory and what comes next.
One photograph in this collection was made during her recovery from a serious neck injury in 2023. Unable to move as freely as before, she began creating and photographing small designs in the sand.
In a region experiencing rapid growth, her photographs pause on what remains – and what may not remain indefinitely.

Artist Statement
My inspiration comes from nature – our natural world with its ever-changing magic. The Lowcountry is teeming with beautiful water views, landscapes, and exotic creatures, be they birds, sea turtles, alligators, or the unexpected.
Historical and ancient structures also capture my attention. There is a spirit within these structures, even after they have been abandoned. When I’m traveling, I like to seek out the locals and photograph the area’s character.
Minor White taught me about the spirituality in photography. Studying with Minor changed my life. It opened me up to the amazing beauty of common objects and our common humanity.
